THE MINDS BEHIND THE BOOK
The WASP, Women Airforce Service Pilots, were pilots during World War II. They were the first women to fly military aircraft from base to base for men to use during the war. They punched through the glass ceiling for women in aviation.
The WASP were the first women to fly military aircraft. They flew 77 different types of aircraft.
They opened doors for all women in aviation after World War II, allowing even more women to follow in their footsteps.
They called Avenger Field home in Sweetwater, TX, where The National WASP WWII Museum stands today.
